What is Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation?

Before his advancement, the history of electrical stimulation used for pain relief dates back millenia. The Roman emperor physician, Scribonius Largus, reported pain relief when he stood on an electrical fish in the year 63 A.D.
More recently, TENS has become a worldwide-used technology for natural pain relief. In fact, it has been recommended by the NHS for aiding pain relief to patients who suffer from conditions such as osteoarthritis.

How does it Work
A Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation device, as the name suggests, works by delivering mild electric currents through the skin (transcutaneous). The traditional device is battery operated and comes with sticky pads that you attach to the target region. These pads have electrodes that are connected to the main machine with wires.
When the pads are attached to the affected area you want to relieve pain in, you switch on the device to deliver the current. The stimulation is posited to either prevent pain signals from being transmitted, thus “blocking” the pain, or cause a release of endorphins, a potent pain-relieving substance produced naturally by the body. This can help reduce pain and relax muscles.

How to use TENS

Each click provides a small electrical impulse delivered to your skin and surrounding nerves. This may not only intercept pain signals but also encourage the release of endorphins.
Here’s how you use the device:
1. Place the pen’s tip on the area you want to treat. You can place it directly on the skin or do it over light clothing
2. Press the button 30-40 times, which takes up to a minute
3. For larger treatment areas, move the pen around the area of pain while you click
4. Repeat the steps on other areas as often as you wish throughout the day.
You will usually experience the results immediately or within a few hours after the therapy; it varies from one person to the next.
Who Can’t Use Paingone

However, the device is not recommended if you fall into
any of the following categories:

• If you have a pacemaker
• You’re pregnant
• You have heart rhythm problems
• You have epilepsy
• You have sensitive skin, likely to experience irritation,
